Get read to meet the queen.

Are you sitting down? If not, you may need to hold on to something: Undisputed catwalk queen, legendary supermodel, and global icon Naomi Campbell will be gracing our shores with her presence in a little under a month.

Still breathing? Good.

Billed as a philanthropist and activist (yes), a cultural innovator (truth) and a premiere supermodel (gospel), Naomi has been chosen as the headline speaker for the FORBES WOMAN AFRICA Leading Women Summit, a one-day event being held in Durban on International Women’s Day, the 8th of March.

The event’s hosts are the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government & Methil Renuka, Managing Editor of FORBES AFRICA and FORBES WOMAN AFRICA, who are delighted to be welcoming Miss Campbell to South Africa – as they should be, because, well, Naomi. “Having established herself as a global powerhouse in fashion, Naomi Campbell has used her fame to benefit vulnerable communities, with much of her charity work also focused on the African continent. We look forward to engaging with her at this year’s ‘New Wealth Creators’ summit.”

It’s easy to forget, while you look at her decades of glamorous work, that Naomi is loud and proud about using her fame to bring attention to communities and causes in need of real help. Over the years she has worked with Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Made in Africa Foundation, amfAR, Breast Health International, and more. At the same time, the highs and lows of her life and career have been, for anyone watching, an inspiring lesson in being yourself, unapologetically.
