5 WAYS TO HOLD ONTO YOUR HOLIDAY TAN
Now tanning might not be for everybody and that’s fair enough, but for those of you who love nothing more than to park off in the sunshine and get your glow on here are some tips on how to prolong your tan since our holidays have now come and gone.
1. KEEP SHOWERS COLD
Hot showers cause your skin to dehydrate and peel quicker, so if you want to make your tan go the distance then we recommend that you trade your hot and steamy showers for cooler ones. We’re not suggesting that you have an ice cold shower every morning, but as cool as possible even lukewarm if that’s easier.
1. MOISTURISE (ALL DAY) EVERY DAY BABE
Don’t panic we don’t mean that you’ll need to be whipping out body lotion on every second bathroom break, but use a deeply nourishing body lotion (something with shea or coco butter is great) and focus on your dry areas -feet, elbows, knees and anywhere else you tend to go a little ashy.
2. EAT FOODS HIGH IN BETA-CAROTENES
Get your paws on sweet potatoes, mangoes, carrots and pumpkins and pretty much anything high in beta-carotene! This is an organic, synthesized chemical compound, containing a red-orange pigment which is found in lots of fruit and vegetables – another reason to keep it healthy in 2018.
3. DRINK MORE WATER
We know we sound like your mother, but she’s undoubtedly onto something as per usual! Keeping yourself hydrated helps to prolong the life of your cells, and this includes you guessed it – tanned cells!
4. FAKE IT!
The healthiest and safest way to top up your natural tan is with a good quality fake tan – it really will work wonders. The subtle colour in fake tan will give your real one a huge boost and applying it sparingly every other day is the most ideal way to enhance your natural colour and to avoid looking streaky.
